Rejoin EU Party candidate for Stretford and Urmston

My name is Jim Newell. I have lived in Chorlton since 1992. I am standing in this election because Brexit isn’t working and Labour has given up being a progressive party.

If, like me, you are on the left in politics, then you are probably asking yourself what the point is in voting for a Labour Party whose leader claims to be the “change” candidate while offering policies no one can distinguish from those of the Tories.

The fact that Labour will likely win simply because the Conservatives are so unpopular, places more value on independent candidates of the left than ever before. Independents won nearly 100 seats in the May local elections, indicating widespread discontent with the political status quo.

 

We deserve better. That is why I support

• Joining the European Union – for improved living standards, climate justice and a more tolerant and open society. Brexit has brought economic stagnation, the cost of living crisis and misery to exporters, travellers and young people denied opportunities to study, work and train in Europe.
